Trailer Winch 3T Vertical Mount fitted with Hook & 8mm 12m Wire Rope 

These UK Built Trailer winches are of a high build quality and the best materials are used to ensure a long trouble-free life, needing only the minimum of maintenance. A truly well built product which will reflect the quality you build into your trailer.


✓ All parts are galvanised or zinc plated, offering a superior corrosion resistance.
✓ Gears are machine cut from solid blanks to ensure long life and trouble-free operation.
✓ The body is made from 3 mm steel and is held together with multiple stay pins.
✓ Gravity operated double ratchet has no spring to weaken or lose, plus can never disengage accidentally.
✓ The braking system is simple and automatic to operate.
✓ The mechanical advantage is designed into each winch to keep handle effort low for smooth operation.
✓ The complete winch is enclosed for safe operating, ie trapped fingers in the gears, etc.


The SP4680B is vertical mounted without the need for a base plate or platform and can be fitted to various trailers, e.g. Ifor Williams ranges LM/CT, Bateson’s General Purpose/Plant, Nugent Beavertail/General Purpose/Flat Bed, Brian James Cargo Connect, as well as other manufacturers.

3000 kg winches are lower geared, so it takes less effort to turn the handle.

SP4685B comes with an 8 mm diameter x 12 metres long galvanised steel rope with eye hook on the end fitted to the winch. The wire winch can be used to pull at up to 20 degree angle side to side, and even more if using a fair lead. The drum is of a size in diameter that reduces wear and tear on the rope and positive anchorage of the rope to the drum for safety.

    The holes in the vertical winch where made to fit the Ifor Williams trailers so they might fit, this has not been tried on the Brian James cargo connect trailer. You may need to re-drill some of them. Most other makes of trailers people just drill the 4 holes anyway to fit them.

    Yes that is the correct one or as an alternative you can use the mounting ref:160-1-7 with any of the 4 horizontal winches on. It is the same but less work to fit.

  • I have an Ifor Williams CT177 car transporter, the trailer previously had a winch and I was looking to add one back on, I have seen this one and wondered if this would be easy to fit. Trailer Winch 3T Vertical Mount with Hook & 8mm 12m Wire Rope SKU :160-1-6 Is there any other parts/fittings that will be needed?

    The winch to fit on the CT177 is the SKU 160-1-4, 3 ton horizontal mounting winch with wire rope which would just bolt onto the plate where the old one had been. https://www.winchshop.co.uk/products/trailer-winch-3t-horizontal-mount-c-w-hook-8m-webbing-ref-160-1-3?_pos=1&_sid=3adfdd6c6&_ss=r   If you wanted the 3 ton vertical (SKU 160-1-6) you would need to cut off the beam across the front of the trailer and drill holes in the front of the trailer to mount the winch.

  • I note your response from the question about compatibility, that you reference a winch PCD to match Ifor Williams LM series . On your PDF there are 2 groups of centre measurements depending on winch size. Which is the same as Ifor Williams LM in order to bolt straight on? Thanks

    For the winches to work on the LM range of trailers a conversion kit is required which can be found HERE
